About The Weapon |
Diameter 51 mm,
Length 140 mm |
Introduced in March 1943 and kept in service up to the present day. The original grenade had a flat base that gave rise to leaks of the WP so a modification was made to the base by providing an annular recess to increase the amount of metal in the seam. It was fitted with striker mechanisms No. 2 Mks I, I/I or I/2. The primer was a standard .22 rimfire cap. The delay of 2 ½ to 4 seconds was provided by approximately 37mm of safety fuze.
